2017 Educator of the Year

The Parker Rotary Club held their annual Teacher of the Year luncheon on Thursday, March 30, 2017, where they recognized five area educators and named one of them as the Parker Unified School District Educator of the Year.

The five teachers were selected by their peers and co workers at their school sites as Teachers of the Year and a panel interviewed each of them to select one as the Parker Unified School District Educator of the Year.

The nominees included:

  • Andrea Kircher, Blake Elementary School
  • Kristin Karlen, Wallace Elementary School
  • Steve Slupsky, Wallace Junior High School
  • Amy Shamowski, Le Pera
  • Esther Scott, Parker High School

The Parker Rotary Club presented each candidate with a $150, a plaque identifying them as the Teacher of the Year at their school and a gift basket from Fascinating Things. The interview committee selected Wallace Elementary Teacher, Kristin Karlen, as the Educator of the Year. Mrs. Karlen was presented with an additional $250 and a plaque identifying her as the Educator of the Year. Her name was also added to the Educator of the Year perpetual roaming plaque, which will be displayed at Wallace Elementary School.
